Extreme Networks Puts the Focus on Big Data Networks and Application Awareness for Software Defined Data Centers at Gartner Conference

SAN JOSE, Calif., Dec. 6, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Extreme Networks (Nasdaq: EXTR), a leading provider of high performance network solutions, will tackle the growing market for Software Defined Data Centers (SDDC) at Gartner's North American Data Center Conference in a session led by Markus Nispel, Extreme's vice president of solutions architecture. SDN and application awareness have emerged as key technologies to optimize data center networks, as the amount of traffic from Big Data continues to increase, along with the number of applications in the enterprise. Learn about the critical steps needed to maximize SDN success during this session and throughout the entirety of the conference at Extreme Networks' booth #411.

"Cloud computing and big data have shifted the importance of the network and interest in SDN considerably and this trend isn't slowing anytime soon," said Markus Nispel, vice president of solutions architecture, Extreme Networks. "When it comes down to it, SDN is all about the applications and all too often we've seen solutions focused too narrowly on awareness at just the control network and not at the data plane. A broader perspective on awareness is necessary, and only with that will end users see increased network reliability, simplicity and security."
