Law Firm Cripps Harries Hall LLP Upgrades Network With Extreme Networks

SANTA CLARA, CA, Oct 19, 2009 (MARKETWIRE via COMTEX News Network) -- Extreme Networks, Inc. (NASDAQ: EXTR) today announced that leading law firm, Cripps Harries Hall LLP has upgraded its network with the Summit(R) fixed family of Ethernet switches to support its fully converged voice and data infrastructure, in addition to iSCSI disk services -- without incurring considerable costs and complexity.

A dynamic and innovative organization known for its provision of imaginative and creative solutions, Cripps Harries Hall required a stable but flexible network platform on which to run the IT applications required by its clients, and to also maximize the efficiency and speed of both the firm's internal and external communications. Having previously implemented Extreme Networks Ethernet switching technologies in 2004 with additional upgrades since that time, Cripps Harries Hall was once again looking to upgrade the network infrastructure.

"We need to keep our technology up-to-date, functional and future-proofed," said Cripps Harries Hall's Head of IT, Mike Burton. "Given the constraints that regional law firms face, we invest heavily in what could be described as best practice, or even London IT technology. We then ensure that we realize every possible benefit from the technology we use."

Since installing the original network and its subsequent upgrades, Cripps Harries Hall now has a network with the increased flexibility and reliability necessary to run its IT applications. "Reliability cannot be understated. During the office hours of the last six years, the core infrastructure has had 100% service delivery," said Burton. "We have cost-effectively run leading edge IT with high availability, thanks to Extreme Networks, Scalable Communications, EAPS and iSCSI technology."

Following the success of the initial investment and successive upgrades, Cripps Harries Hall is looking to carry out further upgrades at the network edge over the coming year and will again be looking to Extreme Networks to provide the latest technological developments.

"The ability to run applications, voice and disk services over the same concurrent infrastructure has reduced our costs, increased flexibility and added high availability," continued Burton. "In converging and aggregating our infrastructure, we've reduced our physical rack space and it is now less complex; we are able to administrate and manage in-house with only low levels of external assistance."

"Organizations such as Cripps Harries Hall have diverse needs and require solutions that will improve operational efficiency and allow the evolution of network as technologies and applications continue to advance," said Extreme Networks' Regional Director for UK & Ireland, Gary Newbold. "The combination of our talents by the thought leaders of our respective fields is helping to deliver significant business value through innovative means."
