Carrier Ethernet Service Provisioning Demo in Booth 2612
In its booth, Extreme Networks(R) will demonstrate its service provisioning solution, showcasing the point and click provisioning of protected Ethernet rings, as well as the activation of services across an Ethernet transport network including the Summit(R) and BlackDiamond 20800 series of Ethernet Transport switches. Speaking Sessions
Extreme Networks will also be participating in three sessions sure to be a draw for the Supercomm audience:
Session: Carriers as a Service Date: Wednesday, October 21, 2009 Time: 1:50 PM - 2:30 PM Location: Room W-181C Speaker: Dr. Vish Nandlall, Chief Technology Officer, Extreme Networks Overview: Carriers store more information on their subscribers than banks. Whom you called and when, text messages sent and received, location, user profile, free minutes/texts remaining, etc. There has been little motivation for operators to expose this combined intelligence to any third party, but the threat of disintermediation in over the top applications has changed the game. During this session, attendees will learn how these tentative new steps will lead ultimately to a new "carrier cloud" community, akin to Google apps engine or Amazon EC2, where opportunities will exist for operators to leverage off-deck applications to augment their offer bundles. Session: Exploration Theater: Changing the Game with Ethernet Transport Date: Wednesday, October 21 Time: 3:30 PM - 4:05 PM Location: Exploration Theater on the show floor Speaker: Mark Showalter, Director of Service Provider Marketing, Extreme Networks Overview: Attendees will learn how to differentiate services while delighting subscribers at the lowest total cost of ownership. Session: Surviving the Exaflood: Metro Ethernet Transport Date: Thursday, October 22 Time: 4:05 PM - 4:50 PM Location: Room W-183B Speakers: Moderator: Michael Howard, Lead Analyst, Infonetics Research Robert Jacobs, Network / IT Director, Phonoscope Magnus Froste, Head of R&D, IP-Only Mark Showalter, Director of Service Provider Marketing, Extreme Networks Overview: With torrents of data flooding metro networks and customer sensitivity to cost ever-increasing, service providers have discovered the lifeboat to profitability: Metro Ethernet Transport. This panel will showcase representatives from two successful competitive phone companies, European provider IP-Only and US-based Phonoscope, and their use of Metro Ethernet Transport as the underlying technology credited for driving down network operating costs and vastly increasing the amount of information able to pass through their networks. Moderating this panel and offering an overview of the metro Ethernet market and drivers is Michael Howard, Lead Analyst at Infonetics Research and expert in all things Ethernet.
