SAN JOSE, Calif., Feb. 9, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Extreme Networks, Inc. (Nasdaq: EXTR) honored Chelmsford Public Schools on Tuesday, February 7, 2017 as the latest recipient of the Extreme Exemplary School Award. Winners are chosen each quarter based on their steadfast commitment to implementing a personalized digital learning environment for every student, while embodying the best in American education by successfully engaging students in 1:1 or mobile learning.
Recognized as a "Top 100" school by the U.S. Department of Education and invited to participate in the National Connected Superintendents Summit at the White House, Chelmsford Public Schools has made digital learning and the adoption of innovative technology a priority. From the classroom to the football field, Chelmsford is able to support over 5,000 students and 366 teachers on the network with the deployment of its wired and wireless network infrastructure. This has allowed the school to support its mission to cultivate well-rounded lifelong learners by providing an unmatched digital learning environment. This year the district school added over 230 Chromebooks and 65 IP cameras. The Exemplary School Award is presented to schools that meet the following criteria:
- Stimulate 24x7 Learning: To meet the demands of today's competitive global economy, schools must create lifetime learners. To promote this concept and qualify for the Extreme Exemplary School Award, a school must institute a 1:1 or Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) mobile learning environment.
- Facilitate Individual Instruction: Learning is not a one-size-fits-all environment. Networks and resources must be empowered to permit personalized learning.
- Encourage Curricular Growth: To meet the demands of curricular change, a district must implement an infrastructure that readily adapts to curricular needs. Everyone learns differently, and the network must be prepared to meet the growing requirements of eBooks, streaming video and blended or flipped learning.
"Chelmsford Public Schools is pleased to receive this award from Extreme Networks. Our teachers and our administration work hard to deliver emerging technologies to our classrooms, and continuously work at improving student outcomes by using innovative approaches to teaching and learning with technology," said Dr. Jay Lang, superintendent at Chelmsford Public Schools.
"At Extreme Networks, we take pride in delivering top of the line wired and wireless networking solutions that help schools create the best classroom experience possible," said Robert Nilsson, director of vertical solutions at Extreme Networks. "Chelmsford Public Schools is a role model for other schools striving to deliver engaging 21st century learning environments and we are proud to recognize the school for their hard work in meeting students' digital learning needs."
