Extreme Networks Named A Top Data Center Vendor by Three Different Analyst Groups

SANTA CLARA, Calif., Nov. 2, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Extreme Networks, Inc.  (Nasdaq: EXTR) today announced it has earned top marks for the data center market by The Dell'Oro Group, Gartner, Inc. and Info-Tech Research Group.

Some of the largest businesses, governments and technology companies run their data centers on Extreme Networks. More than 700 customers worldwide use Extreme Networks data center products.

In three separate reports, Extreme Networks is recognized for its open fabric data center solutions.  These solutions include its BlackDiamond® and Summit® Ethernet switches.

  • The Dell'Oro Group rated Extreme Networks as a top five vendor for data center revenue and total Ethernet ports shipped (Top of Rack fixed and End of Row modular switches)
  • Gartner, in its recent Competitive Landscape report for the Data Center, included Extreme Networks in the "data center network specialist" category, joining the only other competitors Juniper and Brocade in the same category.
  • Info-Tech Research Group rated Extreme Networks as a "champion" in the data center and hosted cloud markets.  Extreme Networks was the only vendor rated "exemplary" for its data center products.

"Extreme Networks product portfolio positions it for major data center growth in 2012," said Zeus Kerravala, principal analyst and data center expert for ZK Research. "There is growing market traction around its high performance Ethernet switches for the data center. Its next generation BlackDiamond X8 and Summit X670 products have tested off-the-charts. Extreme Networks is poised to be a 'best-in-class' provider for cloud-grade networks."

"Extreme Networks is driving innovation in the hosted cloud, data center, Internet Exchange, and high performance computing markets with our ExtremeXOS-based switching solutions," said David Ginsburg, CMO for Extreme Networks. "These recent accolades from industry experts reflect our increasing credibility and mindshare in markets where network transformations are taking place."
