Extreme Networks Expands Portfolio of TAA-Certified Compliant Government and Education Network Solutions

SANTA CLARA, Calif., Oct 01, 2009 /PRNewswire-FirstCall via COMTEX News Network/ -- Extreme Networks, Inc. (Nasdaq: EXTR), is furthering its value proposition for North American channel partners who address the federal and local government sectors by announcing that its leading-edge portfolio of Summit(R) Series edge switches, including the Summit X450, X350, X250 and X150, and the BlackDiamond(R) 8800 modular switches are available as TAA Compliant, a part of the Federal Trade Agreements Act.

Extreme Networks wide variety of TAA-Compliant network solutions provide its North American channel partners with the simplest and most efficient path to building new business with federal and local governmental agencies and educational institutions as part of GSA purchasing contracts.

"Extreme Networks solutions are proven in the market and well tailored for enterprise network requirements," said Jim Marsh, senior vice president of sales for Carousel Industries, a leading national technology integrator. "Today's development helps us sharpen our competitive edge around our objectives to recommend convergence-ready networks to federal and local government, K-12 and university education customers. By promoting higher reliability, integrated network security and performance, Extreme Networks helps us deliver the right infrastructure for converged communications."

TAA compliance is required for inclusion on Federal contracts, such as GSA Schedules, which are long-term, established government-wide purchasing contracts through commercial firms that can be ordered directly from GSA Schedule contractors.

Extreme Networks Summit fixed switches and BlackDiamond 8800 modular switches are supported with a consistent operating system, ExtremeXOS(R), which provides comprehensive and uniform enterprise features to deal with emerging business applications and converged communications. Additionally, the complete range of fixed switches features cross-platform stackable management, Layer 2 and Layer 3 options with either Fast Ethernet (10/100) or Gigabit Ethernet (10/100/1000) speeds.

"Furthering the number of network solutions that are TAA-compliant is a direct benefit to our existing and prospective channel partners," said Christopher Rajiah, director of the North American Channel program for Extreme Networks. "Integrators like Carousel Industries demonstrate the highest competency in planning, designing and installing network infrastructure and are now best served with solutions that meet TAA and GSA requirements."
