SANTA CLARA, Calif., April 18, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Extreme Networks, Inc., (Nasdaq: EXTR) today announced that it has appointed industry veteran Mimi Gigoux as senior vice president of Human Resources (HR). In this position, she will be responsible for building and strengthening Extreme Networks' global HR organization to support the company's growth and innovation.

A proven executive, Gigoux brings over 25 years of HR management experience, employee development and recruitment, and internal communications to Extreme Networks. She has served in HR management roles at leading companies, including Aviat Networks, RedBack Networks, Cisco Systems, Kalpana and Apple.

Prior to Extreme Networks, Gigoux served as chief human resources officer and senior vice president of Aviat Networks, where she led its worldwide HR organization. Prior to Aviat, she served at leading networking companies including as vice president of HR at Redback Networks, where she led major organizational changes to address its rapid expansion and subsequent acquisition by Ericsson.

Earlier in her career, Gigoux held key HR leadership roles while at Cisco Systems, leading HR programs for several Cisco business units, including facilities, finance, legal, global alliances and business development, and also serving as an internal consultant for organizational change management.  While there, she led the process to successfully integrate over 8,000 employees from 73 companies acquired by Cisco.
