Extreme Networks Appoints David Ginsburg as Senior Vice President of Strategic Marketing

SANTA CLARA, Calif.; Nov. 30, 2010 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Extreme Networks, Inc. (Nasdaq: EXTR) today announced that it has appointed industry veteran David Ginsburg as Senior Vice President of Strategic Marketing. Ginsburg joins Extreme Networks after more than 25 years spent in technology and marketing leadership roles with some of the world's premier networking and communication companies.

"Dave brings to Extreme Networks the right blend of technology foresight and industry knowledge to help accelerate growth and seize emerging opportunities to further define our strong market position," said Oscar Rodriguez, President and CEO of Extreme Networks.

The newly created SVP of Strategic Marketing role is responsible for product strategy, go-to-market solutions spanning the enterprise and service provider markets, and product line management.  A key objective will be to exploit market opportunities that leverage the company's core technologies and expertise.

Ginsburg brings to Extreme Networks expertise in routing, switching and mobility.  His most recent leadership role was vice president of marketing for InnoPath, a privately-owned company in the over-the-air smartphone management and customer care space.  Previously, Ginsburg led Riverstone Networks' marketing and business development operations, playing a key role in the company's successful acquisition by Alcatel-Lucent.  Prior to Riverstone, Ginsburg held leadership roles with Cisco and Shasta/Nortel.

"Extreme Networks is a leading Ethernet networking company that leverages the technology's performance curve while combining innovation and customer intimacy," said David Ginsburg, senior vice president of strategic marketing for Extreme Networks.  "The company offers the increasingly mobile enterprise and service provider markets an alternative to the single-vendor lock-in path as the economics of Ethernet continue to enable market expansion. This is why I am excited about the future of Extreme Networks."
