Extreme Networks Data Center Architecture Named a Finalist for Best of Interop

SANTA CLARA, Calif., April 13, 2010 /PRNewswire via COMTEX News Network/ -- Extreme Networks, Inc., (Nasdaq: EXTR) today announced that its soon-to-be-revealed Direct Attach data center network architecture addressing virtualization in the data center has been selected as a Finalist from hundreds of submissions for the Best of Interop awards, occurring at Interop Las Vegas 2010.

Extreme Networks data center architecture takes a progressive approach to migrating customers from physical networks to virtual networks and to the cloud, highlighted by providing insight and control of Virtual Machines (VMs) throughout the network while reducing the expenses and layers of complexity found with today's commonly prescribed data center network designs.

"Our network-centric data center strategy, Direct Attach, provides organizations with an evolutionary data center upgrade path that reduces infrastructure tiers and operational expenses, while delivering high scalability and control of virtualized assets," said Shehzad Merchant, senior director of strategy for Extreme Networks. "Making its debut at Interop Las Vegas, we are truly excited about demonstrating how Direct Attach moves virtual machine switching back to the network, enabling the application of mature network capabilities at wire speed, as well as providing unprecedented network level visibility into the virtual machine operating environment."

The Best of Interop judging panel selects finalists based on their solution's potential to advance the state of computing, while presenting a clear business case to IT planners. The virtualization category recognizes, among other technologies, network hardware products for enabling technologies such as storage virtualization, IO acceleration and specialized computer platforms targeted at virtualization applications.

Extreme Networks will showcase its leading data center infrastructure technologies at Interop Booth #2143. Interop Las Vegas 2010 takes place April 26-29, 2010, at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center.
